Pasquale Proia
Nasce a Fontana Liri nel 1963, a metà degli anni '70 si appassiona alle arti visive nella sala Cinematografica gestita da suo padre. Si accosta alla fotografia come apprendista di camera oscura e poi come operatore foto-video avviando una collaborazione con il fotografo Roberto Folchetti, di una storica famiglia di fotografi attivi sin dall'inizio del 900.
A metà degli anni ‘80 inizia ricerche e sperimentazioni personali affiancando alla fotografia testi poetici organizzando e partecipando a diverse mostre personali e collettive.
Nel 1987-88 Frequenta un corso nel Centro Regionale di Formazione Professionale per Foto-Cine Operatori di Roma, dove fra gli altri ha come insegnante il direttore della fotografia Erico Menczer, dal quale apprende importanti nozioni di illuminazione e foto di scena.
All’inizio degli anni ‘90 di particolare importanza è per lui la documentazione di una mostra di opere-laser del maestro Vincenzo Bianchi, dove entra in contatto con tecnologie al tempo raramente accessibili che lo stimolano ad ulteriori sperimentazioni.
Dal 1998 comincia ad interessarsi alla fotografia digitale, nel 2001 realizza “Cromocinetica” studio di forme e colori in movimento ottenute mediante scansione.
Nel 2014 partecipa al V Festival Internazionale di Videopoesia tenutosi in Argentina e il suo video “ Is there anybody out there? “ viene selezionato per la proiezione presso la
“ Esculea de Arte Leopoldo Marechal “ di Buenos Aires.
Nel 2017 espone presso la Galleria Expo Ex di Senigallia, mostra, patrocinata dal MUSINF, Museo d'Arte Moderna della Comunicazione e della Fotografia, dall'Associazione culturale REMEL e dal Comune di Senigallia, e presentata dal Prof. Carlo Emanuele Bugatti direttore del museo.
Nel 2018 con presentazione del Prof. Vincenzo Bianchi presso la Galleria Bibliotè di Sora, espone “ Omaggio a Umberto Mastroianni “, realizzato con fotografie ispirate alla poetica del grande Maestro e primo scultore astrattista del ‘900, nel 2019 la stessa mostra viene esposta nella sede dell’Associazione Culturale Sarean di Bilbao.
Born in Fontana Liri in 1963, in the mid-1970s he became passionate about the visual arts in the cinema hall run by his father. He approached photography as a darkroom apprentice and then as a photo-video operator, starting a collaboration with photographer Roberto Folchetti, from an historic family of photographers, active since the beginning of the 20th century. In the mid-1980s he began research and personal experimentation, combining poetic texts with photography, organizing and participating in various solo and group exhibitions. In 1987-88 he attended a course in the Regional Center for Professional Training for Photo-Cine Operators in Rome, where one of the teachers was the director of photography Erico Menczer, from whom he learned important notions of lighting and stage photos. At the beginning of the 1990s, the documentation of a masterpiece exhibition by maestro Vincenzo Bianchi was of particular importance to him, as he came into contact with technologies that were rarely accessible at the time and which stimulated him to experiment further. From 1998 he began to take an interest in digital photography, in 2001 he created "Cromocinetica" a study of shapes and colors in motion obtained by scanning. In 2014 he participated in the V International Videopoesia Festival held in Argentina and his video "Is there anybody out there?". He was selected for the screening at the" Esculea de Arte Leopoldo Marechal " of Buenos Aires. In 2017 he exhibited at the Expo Ex Gallery in Senigallia, sponsored by the MUSINF, Museum of Modern Art of Communication and Photography, by the Cultural Association REMEL and the Municipality of Senigallia, and presented by Prof. Carlo Emanuele Bugatti, director of the museum . In 2018 with a presentation by Prof. Vincenzo Bianchi at the Galleria Bibliotè di Sora, he exhibited "Homage to Umberto Mastroianni", made with photographs inspired by the poetics of the great master and first abstract sculptor of the 20th century, in 2019 the same exhibition was repeated in the Sarean Cultural Association of Bilbao.
